Mike Steinmeyer is a Republican representative for Missouri House District 20, which covers northern Independence and Sugar Creek areas in Jackson County. He was elected in 2024 and assumed office on January 8, 2025, succeeding Aaron McMullen. A U.S. Navy veteran, Jackson County native, and former Independence City Councilman for the Third District, Steinmeyer has over 15 years of experience in international humanitarian work, building churches and schools across 26 nations while addressing hunger. His priorities include parental rights in education, support for agriculture, combating food insecurity, upholding the First and Second Amendments, and enhancing public safety.
