Biography
Mike Sparks is a Republican representing District 49 in the Tennessee House of Representatives, a seat he has held since 2011 after defeating incumbent Kent Coleman. A resident of Smyrna, Tennessee, he is married to Felicia Sparks , with two sons and two grandchildren; he is Baptist and works as a business owner, consultant, author, entrepreneur, publisher, and radio spokesperson specializing in commercial real estate . Notable achievements include sponsoring legislation to prohibit interrogating children without parents or guardians present, creating an anti-street racing task force, making gun sales tax-exempt, imposing the death penalty on fentanyl-using drug dealers, and increasing juvenile offender protections; he supports charter schools, school vouchers, and public school investments. He was reelected in 2024, defeating Democrat Luis Mata by 3,866 votes.
