Biography

Mike Schietzelt is a Republican representing North Carolina's 35th House District since January 2025. Born Michael Gary Schietzelt, Jr. on October 24, 1986, he is a husband, father, U.S. Marine Corps veteran , and litigation attorney at Michael Best & Friedrich LLP, specializing in civil disputes for small businesses, health care professionals, and faith-based organizations. Raised in a single-parent family in Burlington, N.C., as the son of a disabled Vietnam veteran, he emphasizes service and hard work; he was sworn in by retired Chief Justice Mark Martin, for whom he clerked.
