Mike Pike – Iowa State Senator
Mike Pike is a Republican State Senator representing District 20 in the Iowa State Senate, which encompasses parts of Des Moines, Altoona, and Pleasant Hill. Born in 1976 in Des Moines, Pike is a plumber and small business owner who transitioned to public service. He is married and has six children—five daughters and one son. Pike resides in Des Moines with his family.
Pike assumed office on January 2, 2025, following his successful election campaign in November 2024, during which he defeated Democratic incumbent Nate Boulton in a closely contested race. His background in the trades has significantly shaped his legislative priorities, which focus on workforce development, education, and veterans' affairs. Before entering the Iowa State Senate, Pike's work as a plumber provided him with insight into the challenges faced by working-class families.
Education and Professional Background
Pike graduated from Luther Rice College and Seminary between 2009 and 2016, where he studied Biblical Studies and Apologetics. Professionally, he has established himself as a small business owner, serving as President of Pike Mechanical since 1999 and as President of PK Smoke Free Suites since 2020.
