Biography
Mike Lee is a Democratic member of the Hawaii House of Representatives, representing District 50, which includes Kailua, portions of ʻAikahi, and Kāneʻohe Bay. Born and raised in Honolulu around 1981 or 1982, he is a respected educator, small business owner, community leader, and family man with extensive experience in community initiatives involving government, businesses, non-profits, and schools. Notable positions include vice chair of the House Labor Committee, and he serves on the Kailua Neighborhood Board, Windward Neighborhood Security Watch, Pali Lions Club, and Board for the Hawaiʻi Federation of USA Wrestling. His achievements encompass helping incarcerated youth earn high school diplomas and environmental science credits, providing culture-based education to K-12 schools, restoring Hakipuʻu Stream, offering free field trips for underserved schools, and training students in conservation skills for green jobs; he is also an active wrestling coach, youth leadership trainer, Lions Club facilitator, and DOE Natural Resource Academy Advisor.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Graduated from Punahou School; earned a Bachelor’s degree from Pacific University in Oregon; obtained a Master’s degree in Conflict Resolution Education and Cultural Competency from Portland State University’s unique graduate program at the time.
