Biography
Michel "Mike" A. Lajoie is a Democratic state representative serving House District 96 in Lewiston, Androscoggin County, Maine. A lifelong Lewiston resident, he is retired, previously serving as Lewiston Fire Chief for over 31 years and as a small business owner. Notable positions include member of the Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee, past service on the Maine Fire Protection Services Commission and Maine Fire Service Institute Advisory Board, and current board member of the Gendron Franco Center. He has served six non-consecutive terms in the Maine House and two terms on the Lewiston City Council, including as council president. He is affiliated with the Knights of Columbus, American Red Cross , and enjoys fishing, hunting, and boating. Married to Rita, he has three children, five grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.
Education and Political Experience
Education: Graduated from Lewiston High School; Associate's degree in fire science from Central Maine Community College and Southern Maine Community College ; graduate of the Androscoggin Leadership Development Institute.
Political Experience: Elected to Maine House of Representatives for District 96 ; current term in 132nd Legislature; committee roles include Criminal Justice and Public Safety and House Committee on Leaves of Absence .
