Biography
Michael P. Kushmerek is a Democratic representative for the 3rd Worcester District in the Massachusetts House of Representatives, serving since January 2021. Elected in 2020 to succeed Democrat Stephan Hay, he defeated Republican Glenn Fossa and was sworn in on January 6, 2021. Prior to this, he served as a Fitchburg City Councilor from 2014-2021, including as Council President from 2016-2020, and held roles on the Fitchburg Municipal Airport Commission and Capital Improvement Commission from 2016-2021. Kushmerek is married to Carissa Kushmerek, a licensed social worker. Notable positions include Director of Major Gifts at Northeastern University , Director of Development at Worcester Polytechnic Institute , and Director of Annual Giving at Fitchburg State University .
