Biography
Mike Harris is a Republican member of the Michigan House of Representatives, representing District 52, first elected in May 2022. District 52 includes part of Oakland County: the cities of Lake Angelus and Clarkston, Independence Township, and portions of Springfield and Waterford townships. In the House, he chairs the House Insurance Committee, serves as vice chair of the House Government Operations Committee, and is also a member of the House Economic Competitiveness Committee and House Judiciary Committee, as well as the Legislative Council. He serves on the House leadership team as the majority caucus whip.
Education
Harris attended Mott Community College, where he majored in criminal justice. He later attended the police academy at Delta College.
Political Experience
Before taking office, Harris held leadership roles in law enforcement, including serving as local union president for both the Patrol Officers’ Association and the Command Officers’ Association, and serving on the executive board of the Michigan Association of Police. He also served on the Waterford Coalition for Youth. He was first elected to the Michigan House of Representatives in May 2022 and has since taken on multiple committee leadership roles and a position on the majority caucus leadership team.
