Biography
Mike Griffith
Christopher Michael Griffith was born in 1977 or 1978 in Baltimore, Maryland. He grew up in Aberdeen and was raised by his grandmother. After her death when he was 12, he entered foster care. During high school, he remained active in his local church and served as a camp counselor at the Edgewood Boys and Girls Club starting in 1994.
Griffith served in the United States Marine Corps from 1995 to 2002, working as a military police officer, supervisor, and liaison. Following his military service, he has held various professional positions, including account representative at Capital Advertising, entertainment consultant, director of recruitment at ITT Technical Institute, advertising account representative at The Baltimore Sun, director of new business development at Ripken Baseball, advertising manager at Baltimore Business Journal, and vice president and chief marketing officer at HPS Management before moving into business development at Albers & Associates in 2024.
He is married and has four children, currently living outside of Bel Air.
Education and Political Experience
Griffith attended Joppatowne High School in Joppa, Maryland. Before entering electoral politics, he served on various community boards including the Maryland Building Industry Association, the Harford County Economic Development Advisory Board, and the Arc Northern Chesapeake Region. He became a member of the Harford County Republican Central Committee in 2018 and served as its chair beginning in 2019.
In January 2020, Governor Larry Hogan appointed Griffith to the Maryland House of Delegates, representing District 35B, succeeding Andrew Cassilly. He was first elected to the House of Delegates in November 2022 and currently represents District 35A, which encompasses Cecil and Harford Counties. He serves on the Ways and Means Committee and is a member of the Maryland Veterans Caucus.
Notable Achievements
Griffith has received several prestigious honors, including the Arc Maryland Legislator of the Year , the Award for Conservative Excellence from CPAC , and the Maryland Military Coalition Legislator of the Year . He also received the President's Award from the Maryland Building Industry Association in 2018.
Among his legislative accomplishments, he led efforts to save the 2020 Harford County fireworks and advocated for reopening schools during the pandemic. He has been vocal in opposing anti-Second Amendment legislation and tax increases, and served on the front lines in defending law enforcement against anti-police legislation.
