Mike Gierau

Mike Gierau is a Democratic state senator representing Wyoming Senate District 17, which includes Teton County and the Jackson area. He has been a prominent figure in Wyoming politics despite being part of a small Democratic minority in the Republican-dominated state legislature. As one of only two Democrats in the Wyoming State Senate, Gierau has become known for his ability to work across the aisle and build coalitions to advance his community's interests.

Gierau's entry into politics began in the 1980s when he was denied a liquor license for his restaurant. Rather than seeking retribution, he decided to become involved in local governance. He has been a business owner in Jackson Hole for 37 years and continues to draw on his business experience when advocating for legislation.

Gierau's public service career spans several decades:
