Biography

Mike Garcia is a former U.S. Representative for California's 27th Congressional District , serving as a Republican. A first-generation American born on April 24, 1976, in Granada Hills, California, and raised in Saugus, he is a combat veteran, business executive, and the first member of his party to flip a California seat in 22 years and the first Hispanic from his party to serve in Congress from California since 1883. He served three terms in one of the nation's most competitive districts, specializing in Department of Defense, national security, space, and intelligence matters. Currently, he chairs America First California at the America First Policy Institute. He lives in Santa Clarita with his wife Rebecca and sons Preston and Jett.

Education and Political Experience

Education:

Graduated from Saugus High School, then the U.S. Naval Academy with Distinction earning a Bachelor’s in Political Science with a Spanish minor. Holds a Master’s in National Security Studies from Georgetown University.

Political Experience:

- U.S. Navy: One of the Navy’s first F/A-18 Super Hornet pilots; flew over 30 combat missions in Operation Iraqi Freedom , logged 1,500+ tactical flight hours, and carrier landings exceeding 300. Honorable discharge after nearly 20 years active and reserve service.

- Business: 11 years at Raytheon as Vice President of Space and Airborne Systems, managing $5.5-7B annual bookings and $350M revenue product line; secured $5B+ in competitive programs. Also a real estate investor and small business owner.

- Congress : Served on House Appropriations, Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, and Science, Space, and Technology Committees; authorized/appropriated nearly $1T in DoD, NASA, intelligence programs. Notable for national security expertise.
