Biography
Mike Colvin
Mike Colvin is a Democratic member of the North Carolina House of Representatives, representing House District 42 since 2025. A native of Fayetteville, he was born to the late Henry Mitchell Colvin Sr. and Ernestine Colvin, the founders of Colvin Funeral Homes of Fayetteville and Lumberton, North Carolina.
Colvin has been a licensed funeral director for over 20 years, continuing his family's legacy through his work at Colvin Funeral Homes and Paye Memorial Funeral Establishment. In the 2024 general election, he secured approximately 75% of the vote, reflecting strong community support. He received the endorsement of outgoing District 42 Representative Marvin Lucas during his campaign.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Colvin is deeply involved in community service. He serves as an active member of Simon Temple AME Zion Church, where he holds positions on the Steward Board and Lay Council Ministries. He has also served as a political action committee coordinator within the North Carolina NAACP and as former Chairman of the North Carolina Democratic Party's 8th Congressional District.
As a legislator, Colvin focuses on key policy areas including education, healthcare, vocational training, and economic development, with a commitment to enhancing constituent well-being through improved access to quality education and healthcare services.
