Biography
Mike Clines is a Republican member of the Kentucky House of Representatives representing the 68th district, which includes parts of Campbell County. Born on August 4, 1968, he assumed office on January 1, 2023, succeeding Joseph Fischer. A resident of Alexandria, Kentucky, Clines is married to Tammy Clines and has three children. He identifies as a common-sense conservative focused on limited government, pro-life beliefs, tax relief, job-creating policies, and infrastructure improvements like better internet, traffic, water, and sewer services.
Notable achievements include sponsoring and passing HB 172 on workforce development, HB 361 to support healthcare workers by amending physician assistant regulations, and HCR 51 establishing the Autism in Education Task Force. He helped secure $6.5 million for Holly Hill Child and Family Solutions and $5 million for the Fort Thomas Athletic Complex. In 2023, he earned a 100% pro-business voting record from the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce and supported bills like Senate Bill 150 and HB 538 . He serves on committees including Agriculture, Families & Children, and Licensing, Occupations, & Administrative Regulations.
Education and Political Experience
Clines graduated from Bishop Brossart High School after attending Grant's Lick Elementary and St. Mary Elementary. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in English teaching from Northern Kentucky University and a Master of Educational Administration from the University of Cincinnati in 1998.
His professional career spans 27 years in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Covington school system as a teacher, guidance counselor, and principal. Now a consultant, he entered politics with his election to the Kentucky House in 2023, where he advocates for education, post-COVID learning recovery, and economic growth.
