Michelle Rodriguez was born on April 17, 1979, and is a lifelong resident of the Inland Empire, having been born and raised in Ontario, California. She grew up in the 53rd Assembly District and has maintained deep roots in her community throughout her life.

Rodriguez was elected to the California State Assembly in 2024, succeeding her husband, Freddie Rodriguez, who was term-limited. She ran with strong business support and defeated her Republican opponent in the general election. She and her husband have raised four children—Desirae, Freddie Jr., Vincent, and Selena—in Pomona and have three grandchildren.

Education and Professional Background

Rodriguez earned a Medical Assistant Certification from Northwest College and obtained a Certificate in Campus Security from Pomona Unified School District. Throughout her career, she has held diverse positions reflecting her commitment to public safety and education, including roles as a security officer for local school districts and an athletic director for a Junior All-American Football League Team.

In healthcare administration, she worked for Inter Valley Health Plan, a not-for-profit Medicare Advantage Organization, and ProMed Healthcare Administrators, where she administered managed care services.

Political Experience and Current Positions

Before her election to the Assembly, Rodriguez served as a Commissioner for the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training , which sets policy for law enforcement across California.

In the Assembly, Rodriguez currently serves as a member of the Committee on Revenue and Taxation and the Committee on Rules. Her legislative priorities include advancing universal healthcare, addressing homelessness, and improving education. During the current session year, she has initiated 18 bills, with 6 passed, 1 failed, and 11 pending.
