Biography
Michelle Hinchey is a Democrat representing New York's 41st Senate District, which includes upstate and Hudson Valley communities in Columbia, Greene, Dutchess, and Ulster counties. Elected to the New York State Senate in 2020, initially for District 46 and then District 41 , she serves as Chair of the Committee on Agriculture. Notable achievements include passing over 100 bipartisan bills to improve quality of life, such as expanding cell service, healthcare access, and strengthening local EMS; authoring the Climate Change Superfund Act, securing Catskills Park funding, enshrining Environmental Rights in the NYS Constitution, and blocking nuclear waste dumping in the Hudson River; and sponsoring the Hospital Transparency Act to address healthcare deserts, free period products, and pro-choice reproductive healthcare access.
