Biography
Representative Michelle Bos-Lun
Michelle Bos-Lun is a Democratic state representative from Vermont serving the Windham-3 district, which includes the towns of Westminster, Rockingham, and Brookline. She has been a member of the Vermont House of Representatives since 2021, having been initially elected in 2020 to represent Windham-4 before redistricting moved her to the current district.
Originally from Taipei, Taiwan, Bos-Lun moved to Vermont in 2003 to pursue graduate studies. She is a committed educator and social services professional with nearly two decades of community involvement in Windham County. Her work focuses on youth development, justice reform, and environmental protection. Bos-Lun is married to Ron, a teacher, and they have twins living in Westminster and an older son in Miami. She also has a granddaughter.
Education
Bos-Lun graduated from high school in Taipei, Taiwan. She earned her BA in sociology from Beloit College, which included a year of intensive Chinese language study at Fudan University in Shanghai. She completed her MA in international education from the School for International Training in Vermont in 2005. Additionally, she earned a certificate in restorative justice from Vermont Law School in 2023.
Political Experience and Notable Achievements
Since her election, Bos-Lun has been active across multiple policy areas. She has served as a lead sponsor of bills addressing housing, justice reform, mental health services, and trapping regulations. In the 2023-2024 legislative session, she co-sponsored 63 bills focusing on child care, housing, climate, youth issues, and restorative justice. She has also introduced legislation on anti-racism and co-authored a bill designating a Vermont State Mushroom.
Beyond her legislative work, Bos-Lun has held several leadership positions, including serving as Town Chair for the Westminster Democratic Committee and *co-director of Bihar Educational Change Foundation *, a nonprofit supporting two schools in North India. She has served on the board of directors for Health Care and Rehabilitation Services and as a community educator with the National Alliance for Mental Illness, Vermont chapter.
Her professional background includes teaching social studies and English, managing youth programs, providing case management support to homeless teens and adults, and coordinating reentry services for previously incarcerated individuals.
