Michele Grim is a Democratic member of the Ohio House of Representatives, representing District 43 in part of Lucas County, including Toledo. She has served since 2023, currently in her second term, and holds positions as ranking member of the House Transportation Committee and member of the House Finance Committee, Health Committee, and Arts, Athletics, and Tourism Committee. She also serves as minority assistant whip.

A career public health professional originally from Ashland, Ohio, Grim has lived in Toledo since 2001. She is married to Ben Krompak and lives in Toledo. Notable achievements include spearheading a public-private partnership on Toledo City Council that abolished over $230 million in medical debt for more than 112,000 people, and advocating for the Ohio Medical Debt Fairness Act, economic development, infrastructure investment, and fully funding public schools.

Education and Political Experience

Education: Bachelor of Arts in Women and Gender Studies from the University of Toledo ; Master of Public Health from Northwest Ohio Consortium for Public Health ; Graduate Certificate in Sexuality Education from University of Michigan ; Doctor of Law and Policy from Northeastern University .

Political Experience: Prior to the Ohio House, served as an at-large member of Toledo City Council, leading medical debt relief initiatives and strengthening care for the underserved. Extensive public health career includes roles as health coach at Lucas County Risk Management, health educator and epidemiologist at Toledo-Lucas County Health Department, research associate at Bowling Green State University, risk reduction educator at AIDS Resource Center Ohio, grants management specialist at AIDS Project of the East Bay, health planner at LifeLong Medical Care, policy intern at Chicago Department of Public Health, and current work as academic coach and health policy researcher/educator.
