Biography
Michael A. Smith II is a Democratic member of the Georgia House of Representatives representing District 41 . Born in Austell, GA, he resides in Marietta with his wife Ryisha and their four children. A lifelong Cobb County resident, he has served as state representative since 2013, after earlier runs in 2008 and successful campaigns in 2012, 2022, and 2024. Previously an educator in the Cobb County School District and currently a realtor with eXp Realty, Smith focuses on education, local schools, seniors, businesses, and community strength.
Notable achievements include sponsoring HB 852 to allow students who move mid-year to stay at their original school; legislation improving voter registration, amendments, and polling place access; efforts against child and sexual abuse; expanding HOPE Grants; and securing over $500 million for local schools. He serves on committees including Economic Development & Tourism, Interstate Cooperation, Regulated Industries, State Properties , and Transportation. Additional roles: Secretary/Treasurer of the Cobb County Delegation and Chairman of the Education and Youth Committee for the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus.
