Biography

Representative Michael Quinn

Current Position: Vice Chair of the Judiciary Committee and Assistant Majority Leader

Michael D. Quinn is a Connecticut state representative who has been actively involved in both legal practice and community service in Meriden. He assumed office in the Connecticut House of Representatives on January 6, 2021, and was re-elected in November 2024.

Quinn served as Corporation Counsel for the City of Meriden from 2007 until joining the General Assembly. He has been a longtime board member of the Meriden Hall of Fame Association and served as its vice president. He was also a past director of the Meriden YMCA Board of Directors and past president and board member of Meriden-Wallingford Chrysalis, Inc., a domestic violence support service agency. In 2012, Quinn received the "First 100 Plus" award from the Connecticut Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

Quinn has held multiple positions with the Meriden Housing Authority, serving as commissioner, treasurer, and chairman. He chaired the Mills Study Advisory Committee, which addressed the future of one of Meriden's public housing developments.

Education

Quinn graduated from Lyman Hall High School in 1986. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from American International College in 1990 and a Juris Doctor from Western Michigan University in 1996.

Political Experience

Before his legislative career, Quinn served on the Meriden Democratic Town Committee as both a member and treasurer. He was the Chief Election Moderator for the Democratic Party for local elections.

As a state representative, Quinn serves as Vice Chair of the Judiciary Committee and Assistant Majority Leader. He also serves on the Executive and Legislative Nominations Committee and the Public Safety and Security Committee.

Quinn is a partner at Mahon, Quinn & Mahon law firm in Meriden, where his practice focuses on workers' compensation representation before the Workers' Compensation Commission, personal injury cases, and criminal defense. He is an active member of the American Bar Association, Connecticut Bar Association, Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association, and the Connecticut Bar Association Workers' Compensation section.
