Biography
Michael J. Marcotte is a Republican representative for the Orleans-Lamoille district in the Vermont House of Representatives, serving since 2005. Born in Newport, Vermont, he has resided in Coventry, Orleans County, since 1978, and works as a businessman and store owner. He is married to Danielle, with two sons and one granddaughter. Notable affiliations include Chairman of the Coventry Selectboard, past roles in the Newport Elks and Knights of Columbus, and leadership on boards such as the Economic Development Council of Northern Vermont and Orleans/Essex VNA & Hospice. He completed the Council of State Governments Eastern Leadership Program.
Education and Political Experience
Education: Attended Sacred Heart Graded and High Schools in Newport, Vermont.
Political Experience: Elected to the Vermont House of Representatives in 2005 and re-elected through 2024, including in the Orleans-Lamoille district. Current committee roles include Chair of the House Committee on Commerce and Economic Development, member of the Canvassing Committee, ex officio on the Commission on International Trade & State Sovereignty, Petroleum Clean-Up Fund Advisory Committee, Special Oversight Committee on Workforce Expansion and Development, and State Workforce Development Board.
