Biography

Michael Lankford is an American politician and a member of the Republican Party. He was born on April 16, 1995. He resides in Palmyra, Tennessee, and is a Baptist.

Education

Lankford graduated from Clarksville High School in Clarksville, Tennessee.

Political Experience

Lankford serves as a member of the Tennessee House of Representatives for District 75. He assumed office on January 13, 2026. His appointment to the state legislature followed the death of Representative Jeff Burkhart on November 14, 2025. The Montgomery County Commission selected Lankford to fill the vacancy on December 8, 2025. His selection was confirmed after a 9–9 tie vote between Lankford and Democratic nominee Allie Phillips, which was broken by County Mayor Wes Golden. His current term is set to end on November 3, 2026, and he is running for re-election in the Republican primary scheduled for August 6, 2026.

Prior to his service in the state legislature, Lankford represented District 6 on the Montgomery County Commission. He was elected to the county commission in 2022. In the Republican primary, he received 99.26% of the vote. In the general election, he defeated independent incumbent Randy Allbert, securing 52.03% of the vote.
