Biography

Michael Patrick Guest is a Republican politician and lawyer representing Mississippi's 3rd congressional district in the United States House of Representatives since 2019, currently serving his fourth term. A lifelong conservative, he advocates for limited government, traditional Mississippi values, free market principles, lower taxes, fewer regulations, the right to life of the unborn, strong national defense, and Second Amendment rights. Prior to Congress, he served 11 years as District Attorney for Madison and Rankin Counties, prosecuting criminals and earning a reputation for fighting for Mississippi families. He is a longtime Rankin County resident, member of Brandon Baptist Church, where he serves as a deacon and Sunday school teacher, and is admitted to the Mississippi and Rankin County Bar Associations.

Notable achievements include being the first Republican freshman in the 116th Congress to pass legislation through the House and the second to have a bill signed into law: the Terrorist and Foreign Fighter Travel Exercise Act of 2019 , enacted by President Trump to enhance terrorist travel detection and U.S. counterterrorism response. He chairs the House Ethics Committee, serves as Vice Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee , and is a member of the House Appropriations Committee with subcommittees on Energy and Water Development, Homeland Security, and Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting from Mississippi State University; Juris Doctor from the University of Mississippi School of Law.
