Biography

Michael John "Mike" Flood is a Republican politician representing Nebraska's 1st Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives since July 2022. Raised in Norfolk, Nebraska, he is an attorney, businessman, and media owner who founded Flood Communications in 1999, growing it into a statewide network of 15 radio stations and seven television stations, including the 24-hour News Channel Nebraska. He has created hundreds of jobs in rural Nebraska communities and is married to Mandi with two children, Brenden and Blake. Notable achievements include serving as the youngest Speaker of the Nebraska Legislature , passing the nation's first 20-week abortion ban , and brokering a Keystone XL pipeline compromise in 2011. He currently chairs the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Housing and Insurance.
