Biography
Michael Durso is a Republican member of the New York State Assembly representing the 9th District, which includes parts of Nassau and Suffolk counties such as South Farmingdale, Massapequa, Massapequa Park, West Babylon, Babylon, West Islip, Brightwaters, and portions of Fire Island and the Great South Bay area. Elected on November 3, 2020, he assumed office on January 6, 2021, and resides in Massapequa Park with his wife, Dana—a Village Trustee and PTA President—and their two daughters, Nicole and Taylor. Born on November 23, 1979, in Nassau County, Durso is a certified first responder who previously worked as a sanitation supervisor , public safety officer at Hofstra University, and member of Teamsters Local 553. Notable achievements include implementing environmental policies to boost recycling, hosting annual Veterans’ Appreciation events , advocating for "Connor's Law," and pushing for infrastructure fixes like the Fire Island Inlet Bridge.

- Education: Graduate of carpentry from BOCES in Levittown.
- Political Experience: Prior to the Assembly, no prior elected office; focused on labor and public safety roles. As Assemblyman, prioritizes protecting the STAR program, property tax rebates, school funding, vocational programs, support for police/firefighters/frontline workers, and strong criminal justice laws. Works across the aisle on key issues.
