Biography
Michael Davis
Michael Davis is a Republican politician serving in the Missouri House of Representatives from the 56th district, which represents part of Cass County. He was elected in November 2020 and assumed office on January 6, 2021. At 29 years old, Davis stands out as one of the youngest members of the Missouri House. He is from Maryland Heights, a suburb of St. Louis.
Education
Davis obtained a bachelor's degree in middle school social studies from Harris-Stowe State University, a historically Black college. He subsequently attended law school at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas, graduating in 2018.
Political Experience
Before his election to the Missouri House, Davis began his career as an educator at an elementary school in the Blue Valley School District. He also gained political experience by working on campaigns for several candidates, including Jay Ashcroft, Adam Schnelting, and Bob Onder.
Davis held positions with Americans for Prosperity, a conservative organization, first volunteering, then working part-time, and eventually becoming a full-time employee after graduating law school in 2018.
In his tenure as state representative, Davis has served on multiple committees, including Crime Prevention, Judiciary, Professional Registration and Licensing, and the Special Committee on Criminal Justice. More recently, he has served as Vice Chair of the House Committee on Ways and Means and as a member of the House Committee on Government Efficiency.
However, his tenure has not been without controversy, as he has faced allegations regarding residency and questions about attendance at district meetings and events.
