Biography
Michael S. Cashman is a Democratic member of the New York State Assembly representing District 115, which includes Clinton and Franklin counties and portions of Essex County, stretching from farms along the Canada–U.S. border through the Adirondacks to Lake Champlain. He was elected in a November 2025 special election to replace Assemblyman Billy Jones. A first-generation college graduate, Cashman focuses on protecting agricultural land, cross-border commerce, Adirondack investments, and Lake Champlain opportunities. Notable achievements include serving nearly a decade as the youngest-ever Town Supervisor of Plattsburgh, advancing infrastructure like the Water and Wastewater Capital Plan, Battlefield Memorial Gateway, and CHAMP Law for housing; receiving the 2024 National TRIO Achiever Award for advocating first-generation and low-income students; and chairing the New York State Commission on National and Community Service to bolster AmeriCorps.
