Biography
Michael F. Brennan is a Democrat representing House District 115 in the Maine House of Representatives, covering part of Portland in Cumberland County. A licensed clinical social worker, he is serving his fourth consecutive term in the House and has a long legislative history, including prior House service , three terms in the Maine Senate as Majority Leader, and as Portland's mayor from 2011 to 2015. Notable achievements include chairing the Education and Cultural Affairs Committee, Health and Human Services Committee, Joint Select Committee on Substance Use, and Blue Ribbon Commission on MaineCare Reform. He currently serves on the Appropriations and Financial Affairs and Education and Cultural Affairs committees. Brennan lives in Portland with his wife of over 40 years, Joan Martay; they have two grown children and one grandchild.
