Michael Boutin

Michael Boutin is a Republican state representative serving the Washington-3 district in the Vermont House of Representatives, representing Barre City.

Michael Boutin was born in 1981 and has lived in Barre City for 40 years. Before his election to the state legislature in 2025, he worked at National Life Group for nearly 20 years as a death-claims examiner. He has been deeply involved in his community through various leadership roles and civic positions.

Boutin graduated from Spaulding High School.

Political Experience

Boutin's political career has been rooted in local governance and community leadership:

• Served as a Barre City councilor for Ward 2 for 14 years
• Chaired the Barre City Republicans
• Currently serving as chair of the Barre Unified Union School District board
• Served as council liaison to the Barre Partnership and the Barre Community Justice Center
• Member of the Vermont House of Representatives
• Serves on the House Committee on Commerce and Economic Development
