Biography

Representative Micah Caskey

Micajah P. "Micah" Caskey IV is a Republican representing District 89 in Lexington County in the South Carolina House of Representatives.

Micah Caskey was born and raised in Springdale, South Carolina, on June 2, 1981. He attended local public schools in the Lexington 2 School District and grew up in McGregor Presbyterian Church. He was active in his community, playing sports throughout town and completing his Eagle Scout project at Harbison State Forest.

After completing his education, Caskey worked as a management consultant for an international firm in Alaska, where he advised Fortune 100 clients in the Oil & Gas industry on profitability and safety improvements. He later returned to South Carolina to pursue public service, working as a criminal prosecutor in the 11th Judicial Circuit based in Lexington County. In this role, he prosecuted hundreds of felony cases ranging from drug trafficking to murder, including high-profile trials. He also served statewide as a Special Assistant Attorney General on a pro bono basis to prosecute domestic violence cases.

Caskey was elected to the South Carolina House of Representatives in November 2016 and was subsequently elected by his peers to lead the Freshman Caucus as its chairman. He has been re-elected in 2018, 2020, and 2022. He currently serves as Chairman of the House Rules Committee and is assigned to the House Ways & Means Committee and the House Ethics Committee.

Education and Political Experience

Caskey holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Florida, an International Master of Business Administration from the Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina, and a Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law. He is a former Captain in the United States Marine Corps.

In addition to his legislative duties, Caskey owns and operates Caskey Law Firm, P.A., a statewide private law practice based in West Columbia. He is admitted to practice in the United States Supreme Court, the U.S. 4th Circuit Court of Appeals, the District Court for the District of South Carolina, and all South Carolina state courts.
