Representative Meredith Craig

Meredith Craig was born and raised in Wayne County, growing up on a chicken farm in Creston, Ohio. She is a resident of Wayne Township and Smithville. An active member of 4H and FFA during her youth, Craig learned the value of hard work and discipline through her agricultural background. She worked at a local grocery store in Smithville for seven years before entering public service.

Craig is married to a Wayne County Deputy Sheriff and is an active member of her church in Rittman. She is a strong advocate for Second Amendment rights and has earned the highest possible rating from both the Buckeye Firearms Association and the NRA. Craig champions pro-life initiatives and advocates for school choice as a Christian conservative.

Education

Craig graduated from Smithville High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Political Science from Malone University. She completed the Jo Ann Davidson Leadership Institute in 2015, which focuses on business and civic leadership.

Political Experience

Craig is serving in her first term as State Representative for Ohio House District 77, representing all of Wayne County. Her career in public service began with acceptance into the Legislative Service Commission fellowship, where she gained experience working in the Ohio Senate. She later served as senior legislative aide to Representative Ron Amstutz, who previously represented her current district and held the position of Speaker Pro Tempore.

Craig worked in the Ohio Department of Insurance for six years as Assistant Director of Government Affairs, serving in both the Kasich and DeWine administrations. Most recently, she worked as Director of Healthcare Policy for the Ohio Chamber of Commerce, where she advocated for Ohio's businesses.
