Melissa Provenzano is a Tulsa native, married mother, and stepmother who has dedicated her career to public service and education. She has served as the Representative for Oklahoma House District 79, with her tenure including recognition as the Oklahoma Education Association's 2022 Legislator of the Year. Additionally, she received the 2022 Representative of the Year award from Oklahoma Democratic Veterans and the 2022 Purple Heart State Representative of the Year designation from the Oklahoma Military Order of the Purple Heart.

Education and Background

Provenzano holds a Bachelor of Science in Organismic Biology and a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership and Policy. She worked as a public school teacher and administrator before entering the Oklahoma House of Representatives.

Political Experience and Leadership Positions

Provenzano serves as Assistant Democratic Leader in the Oklahoma House and holds the position of State Director for Women In Government at the national level. She is also an Emerging Legislative Leader through the Darden School of Business.

Her committee assignments include Common Education, Full Appropriations and Budget, Judiciary—Civil, County and Municipal Government, Government Modernization and Technology, and Administrative Rules. She also serves on the Legislative Office of Fiscal Transparency Oversight Commission and the Service Oklahoma Tag Agency Task Force.
