Biography
Megan Egbert is a Democratic member of the Idaho House of Representatives representing District 17B since June 2024. She was appointed by Governor Brad Little in May 2024 to succeed Representative Sue Chew following her death. A former public librarian and employment lawyer, Egbert was born and raised in Idaho, enjoying outdoor recreation in North Idaho before moving to Boise in 2004. She is a mother to three children and married to Mike, an educator and volunteer.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Multi-Ethnic Studies from Boise State University, a Master’s Degree in Library Science from the University of North Texas, and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Idaho College of Law.
- Professional Background: Served nearly 15 years as a public librarian before becoming an employment lawyer; volunteered as a Guardian ad Litem and founding board member of the Treasure Valley Children’s Theater.
- Political Experience: Substituted during the 2024 Legislative Session; currently serves on the Commerce & Human Resources, Environment, Energy & Technology, and Health & Welfare committees.
- Notable Achievements: Recognized as Idaho Woman of the Year, Accomplished Under 40 by the Idaho Business Review, Women Making History Award from Boise State University, and Outstanding Classmate Award from the University of Idaho College of Law in 2023.
