Biography
Representative Meg Luger-Nikolai
Meg Luger-Nikolai is an American labor attorney and politician representing District 64A in the Minnesota House of Representatives. A member of the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party, she was elected in a special election on January 27, 2026, with 95% of the vote—the largest margin in a state legislative special election since 2017. She was sworn in on February 3, 2026.
Luger-Nikolai is a mother of three and has been a longtime community advocate in Saint Paul since moving to the neighborhood in 2002. Throughout her career, she has championed workers' rights, safer workplaces, stronger public schools, and fair wages. Her election occurred amid heightened community concern following fatal shootings of two Minnesotans by United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.

Political Experience and Notable Positions
Before her election to the Minnesota House, Luger-Nikolai built an extensive career in labor law. She represented trade unions and employees as outside counsel before joining Education Minnesota, an education trade union, as a labor attorney in 2010.
Her professional achievements include:
- Chairing the Governing Council of the Minnesota State Bar Association's Labor and Employment Section
- Serving as a member of Minnesota's Public Employment Relations Board
- Becoming a fellow of The College of Labor and Employment Lawyers in 2025
- Teaching courses at the University of Minnesota Law School
In the Minnesota House, she currently serves on three committees: Energy Finance and Policy, State Government Finance and Policy, and Transportation Finance and Policy.
