Biography
Maureen Madden is a Democratic member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, representing the 115th district in parts of Monroe County, including townships such as Barrett, Coolbaugh, Middle Smithfield , Paradise, Pocono, Price, and Stroud , as well as Mount Pocono borough. She has served since 2016 and focuses on public education funding, infrastructure, environmental protection, senior citizen needs, opioid policy, women's health, universal health care, Medicaid expansion, and property tax reform.
Notable achievements include her recent appointment as Chairwoman of the House Committee on Aging & Older Adult Services, service on the Alzheimer’s, Dementia and Related Disorders Advisory Committee, and selection as a 2024 National Council of State Legislators Opiate Policy Fellow. She has sponsored legislation expanding access to medically assisted treatment for incarcerated individuals with opioid use disorder and serves on committees including Education, Gaming Oversight, Human Services, and State Government.
Education and Political Experience
Prior to her election, Madden worked as an educator at East Stroudsburg University. Her political involvement began as a 19-year-old volunteer; she has spent over 40 years organizing unions, advocating for women's issues, and supporting Democratic candidates.
