Matthew Lunney

Matthew Lunney is an American politician from Meredith, New Hampshire, born in Boston, Massachusetts. He represented Belknap County District 2 in the New Hampshire House of Representatives as a Republican member. Lunney resigned from his elected position effective September 23, 2025, citing a relocation out of his district as the reason for stepping down.

Political Experience

Lunney served as a first-term state representative in the New Hampshire House of Representatives, beginning in 2024. During his tenure, he was assigned to the Resources, Recreation, and Development Committee. His legislative work focused on issues relevant to his district in the Lakes Region.

In 2024, Lunney's candidacy involved an administrative issue regarding his declaration of candidacy, in which he initially listed an incorrect mailing address. Following an investigation by the Secretary of State's Office, it was determined that he was qualified to run for office in Belknap County District 2, as he did live elsewhere in the district. He promptly corrected the address one week after filing, and no criminal charges were pursued.
