Biography
Senator Mattie Daughtry represents Maine Senate District 23, which includes Brunswick, Chebeague Island, Freeport, Harpswell, Pownal, and part of Yarmouth in Cumberland County. Born Matthea Elisabeth Larsen Daughtry on March 9, 1987, she is a lifelong Brunswick resident and co-owner of Moderation Brewing. Elected to the Maine Senate in 2020 , re-elected in 2022 and 2024 , she was unanimously elected President of the Maine Senate in December 2024 at age 37—the youngest woman and first Brunswick resident since 1831 to hold the position. Notable achievements include authoring bills on reducing student debt, supporting seniors, economic opportunities, and paid family/medical leave starting in 2026.
