Matt Williams is a Republican politician who served as a Nebraska State Senator representing District 36 from 2014 to 2023. A former banker and lawyer, he chaired the Gothenburg State Bank and held leadership roles in the Nebraska Bankers Association and American Bankers Association, including as chairman of both. Notable achievements include inducting into the Nebraska Business Hall of Fame in 2025, introducing 63 bills during his legislative tenure , and receiving awards such as ABA Ag Banker of the Year and Diplomat of the Year. He currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nebraska Innovation Campus, a Governor of the Aksarben Foundation Board, and holds positions on various other boards.
