Biography
Matt Shaheen is a Republican state representative serving Texas House District 66, which covers parts of western Collin County including Plano, Frisco, Prosper, Celina, and McKinney. Born June 8, 1965, in Virginia, he was elected in November 2014 and assumed office in January 2015. A technology executive with 30 years of experience in corporate digital transformation, he is ranked among the most conservative, pro-business members of the Texas Legislature. He chairs the House Committee on Elections, serves on the Committee on Higher Education and the Sunset Advisory Commission, and previously served five years as Collin County Commissioner for Precinct 1. Shaheen is married to Robyn with three children and serves as a deacon at Prestonwood Baptist Church, volunteering on its crisis pregnancy center board.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree from Randolph-Macon College ; Master's degree from Southern Methodist University .
- Political Experience: Appointed by Governor Rick Perry to the State Board of Social Workers ; Collin County Commissioner Precinct 1 ; Chairman, Plano Community Relations Committee; member, Plano Transition and Revitalization Commission; eight years on Finance Committee of Colonial PGA Golf Tournament.
