Matt W. Leber is a Republican politician serving as South Carolina State Senator for District 41 , a position he has held since November 2024. Born April 5, 1973, in Washington, North Carolina, he resides in Johns Island, South Carolina, with his wife, S. Michele , and their three children: Savanah, Lucas, and Kensington. A Baptist attending Adam's Run Baptist Church, Leber is a U.S. Army veteran and retired GS-11 federal government employee with top secret clearance . Notable achievements include sponsoring and advancing a bill criminalizing fentanyl trafficking through the House Judiciary Committee, advocating for bond reform, criminalizing luring of minors, enhanced U.S.-Mexico border security, Second Amendment rights, and measures against illegal immigration. He serves on Senate committees including Banking and Insurance, Corrections and Penology, Judiciary, Labor, Commerce and Industry, and Medical Affairs.
