Biography
Matt Hatchett is a Republican representing District 155 in the Georgia House of Representatives. A businessman from Dublin, Georgia, he previously served as a Dublin City Councilman , including as Mayor Pro Tem in 2007, and held roles such as Chairman of the Appropriations Committee, Majority Caucus Chairman , and Majority Whip . Notable achievements include leadership in the Dublin/Laurens County St. Patrick’s Festival , organizing its hot air balloon event, and prior service as one of Governor Deal’s Floor Leaders. He is married to Kim, with two daughters , and is a United Methodist.
Education and Political Experience
Education: Eagle Scout ; honor graduate of Dublin High School; Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics from Presbyterian College ; Leadership Georgia Class of 2000.
Political Experience: Elected to Georgia House District 143 in 2010, later Districts 150 and 155 . Serves on Appropriations , Economic Development & Tourism, Energy/Utilities & Telecommunications, Health, Rules, Rural Development committees, and as Ex-Officio on Ways & Means; previously on Rules, Ways and Means, and Defense/Veterans Affairs. Business roles include Development/Mission Enhancement Director at Mercer University School of Medicine, former owner of Bruster’s Real Ice Cream and Nathan’s Famous , and co-owner of Plum Alley clothing store. Priority issues: lowering taxes, improving schools, cutting spending, and attracting jobs in Laurens, Johnson, and Treutlen Counties.
