Biography
Senator Matthew Deneen is a Republican representing District 10 in the Kentucky State Senate since January 2023. Born on September 19, 1968, in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, he is a Baptist and a dedicated public servant with a background in education and community leadership. Notable achievements include raising over half a million dollars through partnerships to improve district quality of life, passing three unanimous bills in his 2023 session , and earning inductions into the Elizabethtown High School and Georgetown College Athletic Halls of Fame, plus two national awards for technology in education and community conservation. He serves as Co-chair of the Senate Veterans, Military Affairs and Public Protection Committee, Co-chair of the Lottery Task Force, and holds positions on the Appropriations and Revenue Committee, Judiciary, and others.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Graduated from Elizabethtown High School; earned a BA in Education/Business from Georgetown College; obtained an MA in counseling from Western Kentucky University.
- Professional Experience: Taught with Hardin County Schools; owns Deneen Properties LLC; served on Elizabethtown City Council, chaired the Elizabethtown Trail Town Advisory Board, and sat on the Greenspace and Elizabethtown Airport Boards.
