Biography
Matt Bunch is a Republican politician currently serving in the Oregon House of Representatives. Originally from Baker, Oregon, he resides in Clackamas County. Professionally, Bunch spent the majority of his career working in the insurance industry and owns a small insurance business. In retirement, he worked as a school bus driver in Oregon City and served a short stint as the development director for the Oregon FFA Foundation.
Bunch is actively involved in his community. He serves as the president of the Clackamas County Fair Board and as the associate director of the Clackamas County Soil and Water Conservation District. He formerly served as the president of the Clackamas County Farm Bureau. Regarding personal affiliations, he is a member of the Knights of Columbus and was a member of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity during his university years. Bunch is married and has three children and five grandchildren.
Education
Bunch attended Burnt River High School in Unity, Oregon. He later pursued higher education at Oregon State University in Corvallis.
Political Experience
Bunch represents District 51, which is located in central Clackamas County. He initially ran for the Oregon House of Representatives in 2024 but dropped out of the primary election after Christine Drazan announced her candidacy. Following Drazan's departure from the seat, Bunch was unanimously appointed by the Clackamas County Commission to finish her term on November 17, 2025. He was selected for the appointment over candidates Dana Hindman-Allen, a realtor and former county commission candidate, and Carl Exner, the former Mayor of Sandy.
