Representative Matt Beck

Matthew D. Beck is a Democratic member of the Maine House of Representatives representing District 122 . He assumed office on March 6, 2024, succeeding Lois Galgay Reckitt, and is serving his second term as of the 132nd Legislature.

Matthew D. Beck is a retired trade unionist and former television producer from South Portland, Maine. He worked nearly 20 years in broadcasting, starting at radio stations and public television before joining WGME Channel 13 in 1987 as a producer and director. There, he earned numerous awards for news, sports, public affairs, and special programming, including over a dozen telethons for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and Children’s Miracle Network at Maine Medical Center. In 2006, he transitioned to union organizing with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1837, serving nearly 17-20 years as a staff organizer and business manager in Maine and New Hampshire before retiring. Beck lives with his wife, Denise, and they have raised three children. Notable positions include service on the Labor Committee, covering topics like workers' compensation, labor relations, and public employee retirement.
