Biography

Mary Welander is a Democratic member of the Connecticut House of Representatives, representing District 114, which includes the city of Derby and portions of the towns of Hamden, Orange, and Woodbridge. She assumed office on January 6, 2021, after being elected in 2020, and won re-election on November 5, 2024. A resident of Orange, Connecticut, she is married to Matt and previously worked as a theatrical electrician.

Education and Political Experience

Welander was elected to the Orange Board of Education in 2017, serving as Vice Chair for both the Finance subcommittee and the Policy, Personnel, and Transportation subcommittee. She also served as President of her school's PTA and on the School Reopening Committee during the COVID-19 pandemic.
