Mary Carroll Murphy

Mary Carroll Murphy is a Republican member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives representing Hillsborough District 27, which covers the towns of Deering and Francestown. Born in Western Massachusetts, she relocated to Bedford, New Hampshire in 1990 to work for Digital Equipment Corporation, where she marketed integrated office systems.

Murphy is an award-winning business owner and former Fortune 500 executive. Throughout her career, she has worked for major organizations including Eversource , IBM , and the Bedford public school system. She founded and sold a successful financial services company and served as the first Charles Schwab Independent Branch franchisee in the nation, growing the branch to manage nearly $1 billion in assets by 2022 before divesting in mid-2022.

Currently, Murphy leads Cost Cures, an innovative software company focused on addressing healthcare costs through price transparency. She is married to Michael and together they own and manage significant land in Francestown, including their home called Black Shoals on the Piscataquog River. Murphy and her husband are active philanthropists supporting local initiatives, including the Francestown Volunteer Fire Department and Monadnock Community Hospital, and have made substantial land donations for wildlife habitat conservation.

Education

Murphy holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bridgewater State University, which she completed through early graduation, and a Master of Education degree from Rivier University, which she earned with High Distinction.

Political Experience

Murphy was elected to the New Hampshire House of Representatives in 2024 and currently serves as a representative for Hillsborough District 27. Prior to her election, she served on the Board of Trustees for a large local hospital and currently serves as a trustee at Rivier University. She has also been involved with the Francestown Broadband Committee and volunteered with Deering 250th Anniversary events. Throughout her professional career, Murphy has won multiple peer excellence, company, community, and industry awards, including the Champion Award from Charles Schwab for validating the Independent Branch Service model.
