Biography
Mary-Katherine Stone is a Democratic member of the Vermont House of Representatives representing Chittenden-14 district since January 4, 2023. Born and raised in north central Alabama to an Egyptian immigrant father and a native Alabamian mother, she moved to Vermont in 2016 and resides in Burlington. She works as an occupational therapist at the University of Vermont Medical Center, co-leading the BIPOC Employee Resource Group, and is involved in volunteer service on boards including the Pride Center of Vermont, Junior League of Champlain Valley, Inclusive Arts Vermont, and Isham Farm’s First: Earth. She serves on Burlington's City Arts Equity and Belonging Committee, Education Committee, and Advisory Committee on Accessibility, and has been an elected justice of the peace since 2020. An artist and performer, she has collaborated with Ballet Vermont, Lyric Theatre, Vermont Symphony Orchestra, Shelburne Craft School, and Isham Farm First: Earth. She identifies as LGBTQ+.
