Biography
Mary Franson is a Republican member of the Minnesota House of Representatives, representing District 12B in west-central Minnesota, which includes portions of Douglas, Stearns, Pope, Otter Tail, and Todd Counties. Born on March 1, 1977, in Saginaw, Minnesota, she resides in Alexandria and serves as a homemaker and former licensed child care provider.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: B.A. in psychology from the University of Minnesota Duluth; graduate of Albrook High School.
- Political Experience: Elected in 2010 with no prior political experience; currently in her 8th term. Previously represented Districts 11B and 8B .
- Current Committee Roles: Co-Chair of Capital Investment; member of Health Finance and Policy, Human Services Finance and Policy, and Republican Lead on Sustainable Infrastructure Policy.

Franson has authored multiple bills on childcare issues, reflecting her background as a licensed child care provider. She sponsored a 2018 law requiring the licensing of athletic trainers in Minnesota. She is a member of the Alexandria Covenant Church.
