Mary-Dulany James is a Democratic Maryland State Senator representing District 34 in Harford County. Born on February 1, 1960, in Baltimore, Maryland, she grew up on her family's fifth-generation farm in Havre de Grace, where she resides with her husband, Brian, and their three children. A local attorney and community leader, she was elected to the Senate in November 2022 and took office on January 11, 2023. Prior to this, she served in the Maryland House of Delegates for District 34A from 1999 to 2015. Notable achievements include Legislator of the Year by the Health Facilities Association of Maryland in 2008, and leadership roles such as Senate Chair of the Joint Committee on Children, Youth, and Families and Senate Chair of the Joint Committee on Ending Homelessness .
