Biography
Mary Ann Perez is a Democrat representing Texas House District 144, which includes South Houston and parts of Houston, Pasadena, and Deer Park in Harris County . A 63-year-old insurance agent from Houston, she owns a successful agency in Southeast Harris County. She is serving her sixth term, with her seat up for election in 2026. Notable achievements include being named Freshman of the Year by the bipartisan Legislative Study Group during her first term, serving as former Chair of the Houston Community College Board of Trustees, and current roles as Vice Chair of the House Committee on Transportation, member of the Permanent Standing Subcommittee on Transportation Funding, and member of the House Committee on Licensing and Administrative Procedures.
