Biography
Representative Marlene Terry
Marlene "Yvonne" Terry is a Democratic member of the Missouri House of Representatives, representing District 66 in St. Louis County. Her district encompasses Spanish Lake, Bellefontaine Neighbors, Glasgow Village, the City of Riverview, and Castle Point.
Terry was elected to her first term in November 2020. Born and raised in St. Louis, she has maintained deep roots in her community throughout her career. She is a member of Olivet Missionary Baptist Church in Florissant and is a mother of two with five grandchildren.
Education and Background
Terry attended University City High School and earned her degree from UMSL . Before entering the legislature, she worked as an accounting clerk for BJC Healthcare for 20 years, bringing practical experience in healthcare administration to her legislative work.
Political Experience and Notable Achievements
Terry's public service career began with her election as the first African American elected to the Riverview Gardens School Board. During her nine years of service on the board, she held various leadership positions, including secretary, vice president, and ultimately served as President of the School Board.
In the state legislature, she serves on the Legislative Review Committee, Corrections Committee, Ethics Committee, and the Committee for Children and Families. She is the former chairwoman of the Missouri Legislative Black Caucus and founder of the Black Caucus Foundation of Missouri, which was established in 2024.
Terry prioritizes education and child care legislation, and her legislative work has focused on family-centered issues, including custody and child support matters.
